The country of Argentina is amazing - truly a "diamond in the rough". The people, the culture, the "attitudes", the food and wines, and the scenic beauties are world-class. Most people who have never traveled here think that Argentina is "just a small Latino country somewhere South of Mexico". This perception is far from the truth.
In spite of its somewhat overstated economic and political problems, Argentina is a great place to visit:
- A "European" mindset, populace and aspiration: Buenos Aires is called the "Paris of South America", and exceeds it in many ways.
- Warm, friendly people - "time to chat".
- LOW crime rate.
- High esteem of "family" - similar to the U.S. in the 1950's.
- High literacy rate (U.S. 97%, Switzerland 99%, Argentina 96.2%).
- Almost a total absence of the overwhelming problems facing much of the world: terrorism, prejudice, poverty, war, earthquakes, hurricanes, etc.
- Breathtaking scenery.
