ARGENTINA DOVE HUNTING

Argentina Dove Hunting with "5 Star Sporting"

argentina dove hunting is internationally recognized Dove Hunting in Argentina is internationally recognized to be the "Best Dove Hunting in the World"! Our "5 Star Sporting" Dove Hunting programs are truly memorable: the bird hunting, the delicious Argentine "asados" (BBQs) at mid-day in the field, and our "5 Star" Lodging. The doves are here by the millions (estimated to be 30-50 million birds, which do not migrate); they produce up to 5 broods per year. They are considered by the locals to be a "pest", annually destroying 40% of the valuable crops: a huge economic impact. There are no seasons or bag limits; the birds fly year round from sun up to sun down - all day long. In a spot of good feeding, resting and water, it is estimated that 1 million dove can go through it in just 1 hour!

Here is one recent Customer Testimonial:

"We had a wonderful time. I can't say enough: excellent hosting, Dove Hunting and accommodations. Most importantly, my Dad had a wonderful time! Thanks so much. Feel free to point folks my way as a reference via my cell at 512-680-1863. Fernando was excellent, as was his field crew. And you found a diamond when you met up with Omar. I consider him a good friend now, as with you. It was a hell of a trip and a great experience. I thoroughly enjoyed the relationships made and built upon. Killing 16,000 birds as a group was pretty cool, too! "

Eared Doves
Here is what Wikipedia has to say about the Eared Doves:
It is a close relative of the North American Mourning Dove. Eared Doves provide the last big-bag shooting experience in the world. There are reckoned to be more than 23 million of these doves in the fields around Córdoba in northern Argentina and it is not unknown for a single gun to shoot 1000 birds in a day.
The scale of this wing-shooting recalls the numbers of Passenger Pigeons taken by North American gunners in the 1800s. That hunting pressure brought the Passenger Pigeon to rapid extinction, but the Eared Dove seems to be more resilient. Indeed, as with the Passenger Pigeons, Eared Dove populations in Argentina and Bolivia sometimes "darken the skies". Thus, it seems that populations on the sporting estates of Argentina are holding their own, with the birds breeding four times a year and thriving on the vast areas of grain, some grown for their benefit, most of it on commercial farms which are happy to support the dove shooting. The Eared Doves around Córdoba do not migrate, and the enormous flocks are described as flying constantly between their roosting woods and the open fields.

Argentina Dove Hunting
argentina dove hunting in cordoba, the most plentiful species is the golden-eared dove
  • You can expect high volume, intensive shooting (1,000-3,000 rounds per day) with a bird count of 40-80%, depending upon your shooting ability. We recently hosted a Texas Hunter who downed 2,049 birds in 2 days - with a 70%+ average! Each Hunter has their own Bird Boy who collects the birds and spent cartridges, keeps your gun loaded and a refreshment in your hand, and changes your shooting location as the birds change their feeding/water flyways.
  • Our hunting guides have access to the roosts - and large amounts of brush land and low mountains near the feeding areas (crops), flyways and water. We suggest using 20 gauge shotguns due to the high volume of shooting. You can bring your own guns or you can rent guns from us. We suggest 2 guns per person because the barrels get very hot - "shoot at will"! We sell you the shells, since you cannot bring them into Argentina.

A Typical Dove Hunting Day with "5 Star Sporting"
  • The Schedule: here is what you can expect about your "Argentina Dove Hunting" experience with us:
  • A typical Bird Hunting Day begins with a hearty breakfast - with departure to the fields by 8 AM. The driving distance to the fields ranges between 15 and 50 minutes (depending on where the birds are). Each hunter shoots with an experienced, professional Bird Boy who will provide shells and cold drinks, and act as a loader and retrieve downed birds.
  • Shooting continues until midday - then the group gathers in a shady area for a traditional Argentine BBQ ("Asado"). The Asado features an open-air barbeque of excellent Argentine beef and other meats, salads, sausages, desserts, and great wines and beers. After lunch (and an optional siesta in a hammock), the shoot continues until approximately 6 PM. You can expect to shoot 1,000 to 3,000 rounds of shells in a normal day.
  • Upon returning to Gaucho Lodge, you can relax with drinks and appetizers before dinner. You can also enjoy a professional massage and take advantage of our fully equipped game room. After a great gourmet dinner, you can enjoy cigars and after-dinner drinks, and relax with your friends in our wonderful game room.
  • (Times will vary somewhat - depending on the seasonal daylight hours.)
