The Dove Habitat
The Province of Cordoba, the second-largest state in Argentina, is located in the center of the country, an hours flight from Buenos Aires.
Agriculture and livestock provide 25% of the Province's income. The agriculture is centered around sorghum, wheat, maize, corn and other cereals - the favorite diet of the dove population. The area is full of mountains and hills, surrounded by agricultural land - an ideal environment for
bird reproduction. The most plentiful species is the golden-eared dove, very similar to our American mourning dove. The dove are considered by all to be a "pest"; they annually destroy up to 40% of the valuable crops - a huge economic impact.
